EQUIPMENT DISTRIBUTION

MISSISSIPPI RELAY EQUIPMENT DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM (MREDP)

Unfortunately, many Mississippi Citizens are not able to hear or understand phone communications at a satisfactory level, and as a result may be prevented from having equal access to telephone communications. As part of the service provided by the Mississippi Relay program, a limited number of specialized equipment devices will be available each month to Deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech disabled individuals who require such devices to utilize the Mississippi Relay.

WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT
IS AVAILABLE?

WHO QUALIFIES FOR THE PROGRAM?
Among the equipment available is:
-
a text phone (TTY),
-
a Voice Carry Over phone,
-
a Hearing Carry Over phone,
-
a phone designed to assist speech disabled individuals,
-
a CapTel phone
-
a smartphone and
-
a flasher to indicate the person’s phone is ringing with an incoming call.

Mississippi residents may be eligible to receive an adaptive telephone device at NO CHARGE through the MREDP. In order to receive free use of the device, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

Be an Mississippi state resident.

Have a hearing loss (40 decibels or greater) as certified by a licensed physician, speech-language pathologist, or other qualified professionals.
Each applicant must complete the MREDP and fully answer all questions in order to be considered for the Equipment Program.
